Covell F. Meyskens is an Assistant Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. His research focuses on security and development in modern China. With a PhD in History from the University of Chicago, he is the author of Mao’s Third Front: The Militarization of Cold War China (2020). He is currently working on his second book, The Three Gorges Dam: Building a Hydraulic Engine for China. His work has been published in the Nonproliferation Review, Cold War History, Twentieth Century China, and Positions: Asia Critique.
