Sean R. Roberts is an anthropologist with regional expertise in Central Asia. He has done extensive research on the Uyghur people in the People’s Republic of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region as well as in Central Asia and Turkey. As Director of the International Development Studies MA program at George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, he also teaches and oversees research in the field of international development. Roberts' first book, The War on the Uyghurs: China’s Campaign against Xinjiang’s Muslims, was published both by Manchester University Press and Princeton University Press in 2020.
