Shawn Shieh has spent the last 15 years working to strengthen civil society in China and the Global South. In 2018, he founded Social Innovations Advisory, a consultancy dedicated to building a resilient civil society. He is a Research Associate at the Overseas Development Institute and a Research Fellow at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He previously worked at China Labour Bulletin, and China Development Brief. Shawn received his PhD in political science from Columbia University, has published extensively on Chinese civil society, corruption, and overseas investment, and blogs about NGOs in China.
