Bao Hongwei is assistant professor in media studies at the University of Nottingham, UK, where he also directs the Centre for Contemporary East Asian Cultural Studies (CEACS). He holds a PhD in gender and cultural Studies from the University of Sydney, Australia. His research primarily focuses on queer media and culture in contemporary China. He is the author of Queer Comrades: Gay Identity and Tongzhi Activism in Postsocialist China (NIAS Press 2018). He has also published articles in Cultural Studies, Global Media and China, Queering Paradigms, Health, Culture and Society, Interventions, Culture Unbound, The JOMEC Journal, and Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art.
He Xiaopei is a leading queer feminist filmmaker, activist, and director of Pink Space (粉色空间), a Beijing-based NGO dedicated to promoting sexual rights and gender equality.
