Dayton Lekner writes and translates histories of modern China and teaches at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. His work explores how individual lives and stories contribute to regional, national, and global history. His writing has appeared in journals such as Modern China, Twentieth Century China, and the Journal of Asian Studies. His book A Hundred Flowers: How Literature Shaped Maoism (Cambridge University Press, 2025) reveals how creative writers shaped the political landscape and history of the Mao era. He is also a founding editor of the translation journal Revisiting the Revolution.
