Haiqing Yu is a Professor of Media and Communication and Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow at RMIT University, Melbourne. She is also a Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S), co-leading the ‘Language and Cultural Diversity in ADM’ signature project. Haiqing is known for her interdisciplinary research on digital media, communication, and culture in and about China (as a geopolitical concept) and Chinese (as a cultural and linguistic construct), digital transactional ecosystems in Asia, as well as the social, cultural, and political impacts of digital technologies, media, and communication among linguistically and culturally diverse communities in Australia, Asia, and the Global South.
