Qing Shen earned his PhD in Anthropology from Uppsala University in December 2024. His doctoral thesis is an ethnography of queer joy among older working-class men in Shanghai. Before his academic career, he spent five years working as a cultural reporter for leading media outlets in China. In addition to his journalistic work, he has translated five books into Chinese.
