Yijie Chen is a transdisciplinary dance artist whose research focuses on subaltern and marginalised groups in China. Born and raised in China, educated in the United Kingdom, and now based in Melbourne, she has more than a decade of professional experience, including as a full-time dancer with Guangdong Modern Dance Company (2014–18) and City Contemporary Dance Company, Hong Kong (2019–20), touring across Europe, Asia, South America, and Oceania. Since 2021, she has worked independently, collaborating with ethnic minority, disabled, neurodiverse, LGBTQIA+, and migrant communities across performance, dance, film, and interactive projects.
