Gil Hizi is a Research Associate at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, the University of Cologne. Having studied discursive practices of psychology and personal development, he addresses in his research moral change in urban China. His publications include the edited volume Self-Development Ethics and Politics in China Today: A Keyword Approach (Amsterdam University Press, 2024) and the forthcoming monograph Transient Becoming: Self-Improvement and Capitalist Virtuousness in Contemporary China (NUS Press).
